I’m not sure if this is real - or they are accomplished students in the name of performance art, but regardless I cannot get enough. I’m truly captivated. Die Antwoord (Afrikaans: “The Answer”) is a Zef-Rap act from Cape Town, South Africa consisting of, Ninja, Yo-Landi Vi$$er and DJ Hi-Tek. Basically, you can’t dream this shit up. Their upcoming album “$0$” is simply superb and crawled up in my head and set up camp. My current favorite MP3, below the intro video.
Drag City’s vocal acrobatic Joanna Newsom’s forthcoming album, Have One On Me, is one not to miss. She’s quite the story-teller. Case in point, her adventurous piano pursuit “Good Intentions Paving Company” below. Full album set for release February 23rd.
After playing over 150 shows withing the last three years, french duo, Curry & Coco have recently finished their debut album “We Are Beauty” set for an April release. I wrote and produced this about seven years ago - that’s my dear Elle on the vocals. The pic is in a photo booth after one of our DJ sets at The Standard hotel in downtown Los Angeles. I can’t find the original ProTools session of this song but figured this recording was a good share. Download and play in a good stereo - you’ll see. The lyric still rings true.
